With the approach of the elections for City Council and Mayor coming in June of 2026, It would be instructive for airport customer to review how the current council members and mayor have voted on airport issues over the past year.
The graphics below are my evaluation of their voting record on airport-related issues. If you want to see the details of each vote, they can be found on the website: TheAirportReport.info/votes.
Last June, Councilman Mike Griffiths (who led the imposition of landing fees and flight restrictions) was termed out and Dr Jeremy Gerson was elected to represent that district, which contains the airport.
Another notable item is the voting record of Councilwoman Sharon Kalani. In all but one of her votes on airport issues last year, she recused herself based on the recommendation of the City Attorney. His recommendation, I understand, was because one of her relatives' friends is an airport customer. These votes are shown on the graphic as “OTHER.”
Ms Kalani has announced her decision to run for the office of Mayor in the June 2026 election.
Councilman Adam Sheikh did not vote on one issue. This is also shown as “OTHER.”
